            PEACE POST..

August 8th I’m personally going to be choosing the leaders that have earned my respect in all aspects considered and this is my first time voting (yeeii!!) There’s apparently so much tension since people don’t want to go through 2007 again. This peace post is just a reminder to every Kenyan out there that we are the nay and yay Sayers ,we are the people who are going to determine the kind of leaders we’ll have by August 10th so let’s vote wisely ,let’s be critical and fair . we can’t afford to fight because of leaders who don’t even care about us as a people !! Let us be vote and go home and patiently wait for the results as we pray and maintain peace even when the winners are announced. #peace254

And of course a peace poem won’t hurt, this was written by Todd in 2007 and it’s one of my fav👇👇👇

            The link:

My dream: A vision of peace

Where the mountains touch the sky,

Where poets DREAM, where eagles fly,

A secret place above the crowd,

            Just beneath a silver-lined cloud.

Lift your eyes to a snowy peak,

And see the soon-to-be we seek.

Whisper DREAMS and let them rise,

To the mountains old and wise.

Climbers climb, it’s time to try,

Where the mountains touch the sky.

Take me there. Oh take me now,

            Someway, Someday, Somewhere, Somehow.

Where the ocean meets the sky,

Where mermaid dance, where seagulls fly,

A place in DREAMS I know so well,

The sea inside a single shell.

            Far across the living sea,

            A pale blue possibility,

Beyond the castles made of sand,

Tomorrow in a small child’s hand.

            Only DREAMERS need apply,

Where the ocean meets the sky.

Take me there. Oh take me now,

            Someway, Someday, Somewhere, Somehow.

A common ground for one and all,

            Behind the crystal waterfall,

Where Peace flows like a mighty stream,

Like Dr. King I have a DREAM.

Imagine such a goal in sight,

For red and yellow, black and white…

            New Delhi, Beijing, Kenya, Rome,

Earth is the place that we call home.

            Baghdad, Belfast, Tel Aviv,

One race HUMAN, we still believe,

            Come DREAM with me…

Where the forests reach the sky,

Wake to DREAMS, and don’t be shy.

            We’ll DREAM the world a thorn-less rose;

We’ll plant then watch it as it grows.

We’ll conquer hate with DREAMS of hope,

            We’ll DREAM one big kaleidoscope.

Whisper now; let the DREAM begin,

It’s time to trust the truth within.

This is where we seek and find…

A place called PEACE for humankind.

DREAM on DREAMERS, hopes are high,

Where the forests reach the sky.

Take me there. Oh take me now,

            Someway, Someday, Somewhere, Somehow.

Now, listen close, the future calls…

‘Build your bridges and tear down walls! ‘

For time has taught and so it seems,

            Realities are born of DREAMS!

Whisper DREAMS and let them rise,

To the mountains old and wise.

            Romans 13:1

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Apology : I was supposed to post this 5days ago but I’m the mother of all procrastinators . Its 4:20am and there’s so much noise outside, cars and motorcycles are hooting trying to wake people up so that they can vote and I’m praying to God to influence all our choices as a country and to remember that peace starts with you !! Cast your vote and go home. Let us maintain peace. Sisi ni tribe all ✌

            ✌ Peace out ✌

Hello beautiful people ,its quite a chilly Friday Here in Kenya but despite the fact that I’m freezing like never before, I’m so happy to share this post today, its  a little personal because I’m going to be listing some of the challenges I’ve faced and still face in the Kenyan beauty industry…..

Who is a cosmetologist? I’m a cosmetologist (he he). A cosmetologist is defined as a person who gives beauty treatments to skin and hair. Cosmetologists can be expanded into multiple parts including cutting and chemically treating hair, fashion trends, wigs, nails and skin care, and hair analysis. In short we’re  Jack’s of all trades!!

                    ∆ Scarce Information
When my parents and I decided that I’d starts cosmetology school I didn’t know what the course consisted of and I had zero interest. There was no information to convince me, that I don’t even need to go back to school again for a “better” course .The beauty and hair industry is so broad and diverse making it easy to choose one area if expertise for example, you can be a skin consultant or therapist,a nail technician, cosmetic manufacturer, trainer, tricologist or a beauty and hair content creator. I thank God for the hair and beauty expo because that was where my mentality towards the beauty and hair industry totally changed only for the better.

                    ∆ Communication with clients
It’s has never been easy for me to engage clients or even start conversations and I’m still struggling with this minor, major issue. In Kenya mainly in the middle class salons/barbershops there’s nothing like booking clients you have to hustle your way through to get clients or rely on walk ins as a newbie to make money .

                   ∆  Crossing boundaries

As cosmetologist we are only  allowed to maintain a highly professional relationship with clients but some are overboard, they’ll try to get your number or take you out for coffee and if you decline you shall never get another opportunity to Carry out a service for that particular client. So you are required to be of a high moral standard and to really learn the language of NO..

                    ∆ Newbie menace

I’m sure anyone can relate to being a newbie at work!! But there’s no Drama that can surpass salon/barbershop drama. When your new and Young, you’re usually a threat since you definitely have a different way of doing things and oldies don’t fancy this at all. They will at all cost come up with ways and ideas either to get you fired or to quit. It’s never a pretty scene ,and you you gotta be gangsta to survive!!

∆ No one follows the rules

When your fresh out of school, you’re usually ready to practice what you’ve been learning, but the minute you step into the work Field there’s nothing like rules. A regular client will walk into the salon and demand that he/she doesn’t have a lot of time so they will expect you to do a 45 minutes service within 20 minutes, and you’ll have no option but to fasten the procedure or skip some parts since the client has another option because he’s familiar with all the employees And you just can’t let the money slip away!!

                     ∆ Burn out

Yes burn outs are real ,I personally work for 12 to 14 hours a day and my only day of is sunday. The services that we offer are mostly carried out while standing hence swollen legs and back pains are a common menace. Our job requires a lot of energy therefore one needs to be fit and eat healthy on a daily basis. It’s also good to talk to your employer as soon as your employed about off days and how important they are to you.

                           >>wierd extra fact<<

I totally hate popping pimples during facials, nothing pisses me of like ectarcting pimples ,I just can’t love them!! ,but the service is quite benefiting (money wise)so again I gotta be gangsta towards the pimples !!✌

My final remark is you have to uphold what you believe in and what you know is right, it might take time to build a clientele you can brag about but you’ll definitely find clients you can relate with and respect each other since one can’t do without the other!!

The Kenyan beauty and hair industry is not at it’s best yet which means That there are so many opportunities we should all take advantage of . we’ve come so far as an industry and I can boldly say i don’t regret the career choice I made.

I love all  198 of you and I’m so grateful for the support y’all have given me. Drop a comment on what you found weird or awesome and if you work in the beauty and hair industry what challenges have you faced?? I’d love to know.

            ✌Peace out✌
